Abstract
This study aims to examine Turkey's agricultural exports to CIS countries in the context of the gravity model. The gravity model is used to explain the size of trade between two economic units. This model includes variables such as distance, economic size, language, and cultural factors. Basically, it is aimed to evaluate the factors affecting Turkey's trade in agricultural products and especially to understand the impact of the EEU on this trade. The dependent variable of the study includes Turkey's agricultural exports and imports to CIS countries. Independent variables to be used in the analysis include GDP, population, distance, cultural, linguistic and historical links, agricultural land area, agricultural employment, and real exchange rate. These factors will play a key role in explaining the dynamics of trade in terms of economic, demographic and geographical aspects. In addition, dummy variables such as maritime border, land border, EEU and pandemic will also be included in the analysis. While maritime and land borders may have an impact on transportation costs, the impact of the EEU on Turkey's agricultural trade will be evaluated. The pandemic, on the other hand, will be considered in terms of its temporary and long-term effects on trade. This comprehensive analysis aims to make an important contribution to understanding the dynamics of Turkey's agricultural trade and to evaluate its relations with CIS countries. In addition, a clear understanding of the impact of the EEU on this trade will help us understand the effects of regional economic integration on the agricultural sector.
