Examination of Students' Industry 4.0 Awareness Levels in The Context of Occupational Personality Types and Demographic Characteristics

Abstract

Present study aims to question the difference in the awareness levels of students about the Industry 4.0 within the framework of their occupational personality types and demographics. It is considered that study of how the Industry 4.0, which has the potential to transform the future working life almost completely, is perceived by today's students, is important for the analysis of the future of the concept. In this direction, we presented the conceptual and theoretical framework related to the Industry 4.0 and then evaluated the impact of the Industry 4.0 on the present and future of business life. And then, the assumptions and hypotheses determined within the framework of the study purpose were tested by using the data set collected from the undergraduate and graduate students studying at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of a foundation university. The sample consisted of 159 students and exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, reliability analysis, t-test, ANOVA test and Pearson Correlation analysis were performed respectively. SPSS AMOS 26.0 package program for confirmatory factor analysis; For all other tests, SPSS 26.0 package program was used. According to the results obtained as a result of the analyzes carried out, it shows that the phenomenon and concepts of Industry 4.0 are not yet fully known or understood by the students. On the other hand, as a result of the analysis conducted to test the relationships between the variables, significant and positive relationships were found between the awareness variable and all occupational personality types.
