The Relationship Between Economic Growth and Consumption: The Case of Turkey and Eastern Europe

Abstract

The consumption expenditures are the main factors affecting economic growth. These consumption expenditures of the private sector, public and household areas are gaining more importance the comsumption-based economic growth like Turkey and Eastern European economies. The effect of the consumption expenditures on economic growth have an impact on the short term monetary policies. In the meantime, the short term consumption expenditures have been emerging several differences which taken for monetary policy decisions. Economic decision makers need to make more correct policy decisions by examining the factors that affect consumption expenditures. In this study, especially in recent years will investigate the relationship between consumer spending and economic growth resulting from Turkey and Eastern Europe. The data used in the study have been creat annually for the period 2010-2020. In this context, the study will be analyzed by panel data analysis using the cross-section method. The data to be used in the analysis were obtained from the data set of the IMF and the World Bank.
